Job Description
The Logistics Assistant supports the coordination and execution of material movement, deliveries, and shipments within a metals fabrication environment. This role works closely with purchasing, production, yard, and shipping teams to ensure raw materials and fabricated products are delivered accurately, on time, and in compliance with project schedules and safety requirements.
Pay $28 - 31.50
Key Responsibilities

Assist with scheduling inbound and outbound shipments of raw materials, fabricated steel, and miscellaneous components

Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and internal departments to ensure timely deliveries and pickups

Prepare, review, and process shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and delivery tickets

Track shipments and update logistics and ERP systems with accurate status information

Communicate delivery schedules and changes to production, yard, and project management teams

Support inventory transfers between yard, shop, and job sites as required

Assist in resolving delivery discrepancies, damages, or shortages

Maintain organized logistics records and ensure documentation accuracy

Support compliance with company safety policies and transportation regulations

Assist with continuous improvement efforts related to logistics, scheduling, and material flow
Qualifications & Skills
-
Previous experience in logistics, shipping/receiving, or manufacturing support preferred (metals or fabrication industry experience a plus)

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency with basic computer applications and ERP/logistics software

Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced production environment

Basic understanding of freight, shipping methods, and delivery coordination

Knowledge of industrial safety practices
Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Ability to work in an office, shop, and yard environment as needed

Ability to lift and move materials up to company-specified limits with assistance or equipment

Willingness to work flexible hours to support production and delivery schedules

Exposure to a manufacturing environment, including noise, weather, and heavy equipment
