Certified Medical Assistant
Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and dependable Certified Medical Assistant to assist a busy northside dermatology practice on a temporary basis. The CMA will support physicians and providers with clinical and administrative duties while delivering excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment by obtaining medical histories, medications, allergies, and vital signs
- Assist dermatologists and providers with medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology procedures
- Set up and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms
- Perform clinical tasks including specimen collection, wound care, injections, suture removal, and dressing changes as directed
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, skincare routines, and post-procedure instructions
- Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up care
- Process prescription refills, prior authorizations, and laboratory requests
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and exam room stock
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and office safety standards
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Dermatology experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures
- Familiarity with EMR systems and basic computer skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
